All students at St. Vincent de Paul School participate in Physical Education classes several times per week. Our renovated gymnasium and outdoor fields provide a variety of settings for sports and games. The goal is for students to foster a lifelong appreciation of physical activity and health.
PK through 5th grade:
In Physical Education class, the students will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills for movement that provide the foundation for a physically active lifestyle.
The students learn fundamental movement skills, space and body awareness, and participate in activities that will develop basic levels of strength, endurance, and flexibility. Some of our featured programs include rollerblading, square dancing and martial arts. In addition, students will learn to work safely in group and individual settings that encourage social development. Grades are determined by participation, cooperation and sportsmanship.
Middle School:
In grades 6, 7, and 8, emphasis will be placed more on participation for enjoyment and challenge, both in and out of school. The students will gain an understanding of the need to remain physically active throughout life. Students in middle school start out each quarter with a grade of 100. Grades are determined by dressing out in their P.E. uniforms, being on time for class, active participation, cooperation, and good sportsmanship. Points are deducted accordingly. Homework, tests and/or projects may also be assigned.
